asylum refusal and repatriation from UK to India

i am an indian. i was in UK on a student visa which i overstayed due to delay in the awarding of my Bsc. degree then one day UK Border Agency raided the house i was staying in and i was taken to UKBA's detention centre. then on the advice of my lawyer  i made an application for asylum which, after a couple of hearings, was refused and i was sent back to india in may'13. while back in india my passport expired in august '14. now i'm going to apply for a new passport soon and also planning to go to USA for a masters. what are my chances of getting a visa?
